A delegation of health directors from China visited the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) recently (21/3) to discover more about British methods of primary care.
The seven health directors, mainly from the Zhejiang Province of China, visited the College in London on Tuesday 21 March, and were given an all-round view of primary care in the UK, including a tour of a London GP practice. The visit is part of a four-day programme providing an overview of the NHS.
Dr Garth Manning, Medical Director of the RCGP International Development Programme, said: "British primary care has such a high reputation that we are hosting more and more visits of this kind. Many countries including China are very keen to promote excellence in primary care and learn from different methods of working. The RCGP is working hard to promote primary care as a discipline in many parts of the world - especially South East Asia."
The visit forms part of the College's Memorandum of Understanding signed between the RCGP and the Zhejiang Health Bureau, China, in 2005.
